Today’s quick tip is for the overworked and underpaid parents. This tip is for those of us who get up each day and go to bed every night wondering if this is all there is to life. This tip is especially for those of us who wonder daily if we were we simply put on earth to be employees who work for 40 plus years, draw social security and maybe get a gold watch once our employer no longer deem us useful?
To put it more succinctly, today’s tip is for just about everyone.
When You Wish Upon A Star

When I was a child, I was a great fan of Disney movies. I’m not going to lie to you, I’m still a huge fan of Disney movies. In the old days though, there was a song that customarily appeared before or after the feature presentation. The song was “When You Wish Upon A Star”.
The lyrics to “When You Wish Upon A Star“ were instructions for dreaming. It was a song that described for children that anything they wanted to do was possible. Regrettably, the children like me who grew up singing this song and loving those early Disney movies forgot the importance of the song. In our haste to grow up and become adults, we forgot the most paramount element of life. We ignored the necessity to dream.
Dreams Matter
Dreams don’t just matter. Dreams are everything! There is NO progress without dreams. Simply put, Dreamers Change The World. If you doubt me, check your history. I believe that you will find that everything that has ever been accomplished was birthed from a dream.
Without dreams the universe would stand still. And yet despite this obvious reality and the clear life directional mandate that we ALL receive from the universe, most of us go to bed each night and wake each morning having no dreams to chase. Thus it is easy to understand why only 30% of American workers were engaged, or involved in, enthusiastic about, and committed to their workplace.
Why and how can you be engaged, involved, enthusiastic or committed to something that is not your dream?
Dream Not To Be Overworked And Underpaid
It’s imperative that parents start dreaming again or in many cases begin dreaming for the first time. It’s vital that our children be instructed in the ways of “When You Wish Upon A Star”. Not only is our life and the lives of our children counting on our willingness to dream and to chase our dreams but the universe commands that we do so.
The universe ONLY progresses through dreams and those who have the courage to chase those dreams. Either we can live our own dreams and chase our own dreams or we can continue living someone else’s dream – which by the way may turn out to be our nightmare (overworked and underpaid). The choice is yours to make.
For those of you who are ready to start dreaming again or maybe begin dreaming for the first time – who no longer want to be overworked and underpaid, ask yourself the following questions:
- What does my heart desire?
- What do you I love doing?
- What would I do for free?
- What do I do better than anyone else?
- What would I regret if I learned I was dying today?
- Am I living the life I want my child to dream of living?
